My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ready to be your sidekick and your furever friend, meet Tinkerbell! Tinkerbell is a 4 year old pittie with a sleek black coat that shines just like her personality! Tinkerbell is the perfect blend of calm and playfulness! She is super playful, running around in a fenced in yard while entertaining herself by playing catch alone or eager to have the ball tossed to chase after. Tinkerbell is also super chill in the house. She thinks she is a lapdog and adores cuddling on the couch and giving her full attention to her humans. Tinkerbell would do best in a home with one other dog, or wouldn't mind being your one and only fur companion. She gets along with mild-mannered dogs, who are not dominant and who respect her cues to give her space. She gets a bit nervous and scared when dogs meet or run at her too quickly. Tinkerbell just needs a slow and steady introduction to other dogs, then she is ready to be friends. Tinkerbell playmates have included a 5 month old female puppy, and also several other adult aged female and male rescue dogs. Tinkerbell is great for her vet visits and knows that tasty treats are waiting for her. She loves meeting people and having visitors over, even has done well with kids. Tinkerbell is at the top of her game, she is crate and house trained. She has even undergone a professional dog training program. She enjoys going out for leisurely or brisk walks and does well on the leash. Her favorite treats include yogurt, peanut butter and all other treats besides veggies or fruits! Tinkerbell enjoys all enrichment toys and a Kong stuffed with delicious goodies! Tinkerbell has truly come a long way from being a stray and uncatchable for 8 months, until giving birth underneath a shed. At that time she was finally ready and trusting to be rescued. Tinkerbell has truly thrived in foster care, and is ready to make a lasting impression on the lucky family that adopts her. Come make Tinkerbell’s journey from rescue dog to furever home a reality by sending in your adoption application today at https://underhoundrailroad.org/adoptionprocess/.

Tinkerbell is currently being fostered in Denver, North Carolina. She may transport along the East Coast as far North as Maine to her furever home.

More about this rescue

Underhound Railroad was formed in 2009 by a group of friends, with the goal of rescuing innocent dogs from death row in Connecticut shelters. Underhound Railroad has now grown to include rescue communities in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, North Carolina, South Carolina and Utah.

With our focus on rural areas where shelters are overflowing with abandoned dogs waiting to find rescue, our network of Underhound volunteers work hard to prevent undeserved deaths, see that medical, emotional and behavioral needs are tended to, and transportation as well as a loving foster family are provided to the pups on their journey to finding their forever homes!
