My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 1 year old

Gender: Female

Breed: Lab mix

Weight: 57 lbs

Personality: She is so cute and a great partner in crime. While she loves to explore she also equally loves cuddling. She is a great puppy to take out with you to brunch, bars, events because she loves new things, meeting new people and being held. Daredevil of the litter, and part monkey. VERY smart. Loves being cuddled but also has a need to adventure and explore. Very food motivated! Adores dogs with slow intros and kids.

Education: Good with bathroom and leash training. Doesnt require crates anymore.

Favorite Activities: Being near by her humans, walks, dogs

Looking for: An active family with fun playtime! Capri would love a family with another dog but she also does very well on her own. Adding some dog play dates weekly would make her very happy. She is active but still needs her naps. Capri is a sweet girl. She loves to cuddle and have a good time. While she has a medical condition she is active with a great appetite at this time.

Special needs: Medical condition: Juvenile Stage 1 kidney disease. She is thriving and currently healhty, though a shortened life expectancy is normal with this diagnosis. Routine blood work, urinalysis, routine and blood pressure check is required every 4-6 months with an established Nephrologist/Urologist. Capri requires a special diet of Hills Prescription Diet Kidney Care K/D Dry and Wet food (~$150-$200 a for a months supply of both foods. Market value will vary and price may differ depending on where purchased.) Currently receiving Cytopoint injections for skin allergies every 6-8 weeks, or as needed, Price will vary based on vet. Needs daily meds, special diet, regular lab work.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
