My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

New foster notes, 2/21/24:
Dixie is almost finished with her heartworm treatment and is doing well but isn`t allowed to get excited or play too much for another couple of weeks. She`s sweet but doesn`t want anyone but me to take her to potty. She loves my great grandkids who are 2 years to 10 years old. She barks when anyone comes to the house but will stop after about 2 minutes when she starts feeling comfortable. She looks out the storm door at other dogs walking by and will bark. She is house trained and will stand in front of you and just look until you ask her if she wants to go potty. I`m trying to train her to get her leash. She knows different words like sit, come here, get your donut(toy), let`s go, let`s eat, and many more. She has never shown any hostile behavior, but she does have a very stubborn streak. If she wants to check out something, you can not divert her attention to listen to you. She does great left alone in the house and does not need to be crated. She listens well and loves my great grand children. She will tolerate other dogs but always on guard when they are around her. I don`t know about cats but she tries to chase squirrels and deer.

Foster notes, 1/3/24:
Dixie is showing her personality more every day. She loves the toys she received from BAS in her Christmas stocking. She loves the squeaky toy donut, and wants me to throw it and she will bring it back. When first meeting a stranger, she will bark until they sit down. Then, she wants to sniff and wants you to rub her! I haven`t had her around other animals. She will watch the dogs in our neighborhood, but does not bark at them, just looks! She is housetrained and has had no accidents. She is great on the leash, too, always watching me to know which way to go. I take her out about every 2 hours and she will pee every time. She sleeps on her doggie bed in my bedroom all night, and goes out around 7 A.M. on the leash. Dixie thinks she needs a treat every time she comes in from her walks! She does great unsupervised. I tell her I will be back in a minute and she understands that and will go lay on her bed or on the couch. She knows the commands, sit, down, give paw, give me kiss. Still working on other commands. Dixie has a short attention span and is energetic! My daughter plays with her to help with her energy. Dixie gets along with anybody once she gets used to them. (About 5 minutes or less)!

Other notes:
Dixie, hot pink is definitely your color! This
