My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Lyla!

Lyla came in with a checkered past. While we don't know what happened to his girl, we do know it wasn't good.

Lyla as been in foster most of her time with Paws. Her foster moms have worked hard to help her overcome her past. She has some quirks that might take some time, so her furever home will need to be patient with her and love her at the step she is at until she is ready to take the next one.

This beautiful girl is house/crate trained.  Lyla thinks toys are fantastic and really enjoys getting to play. She is also very gentle when she plays. Lyla is dog selective at this time, but with slow introductions, she can get along with some dogs her own size (both genders). She really isn't fond of dogs bigger than her.

She's learning that its not so bad to be given a bath, get her nails cut, and the fur on the bottom of her paws trimmed. I mean - every girl should get spa days and love them! Lyla also prefers to stay on the floor, so if you're not a fan of dogs on the furniture - she's your girl.

She also really enjoys getting to spend some time outside - but her days of living out there are over. Her foster says Lyla doesn't run in the yard, she prances!! She lets you know when she needs or wants something with her howl-y call to say Hey! Don't forget about me!!  Lyla is not destructive with her toys or her home.

This is where we know Lyla has suffered at the hands of humans. This baby is very shy and timid, but desperately wants to trust again.
She is learning that meals are coming on a regular basis, but currently needs to be fed seperate from other pets in the home.
While she is slow to warm up to new people, she is an absolute lovebug once she decides you're OK.
She's unsure of new experiences so everything is done at a slower pace to allow her to gain confidence in herself and in people.

Lyla was seen by the vet and suffers some vision loss. At night, her vision loss is more noticeable. She gets startled easily and will snap to protect herself. After getting a lil reassurance and love from her foster, she usually settles down.
She's gotten better about walking on a leash and going on walks in that big scary world out there. Again, patience has done wonders with her.

Lyla would love to find her furever home for the new year!  Maybe a teenager or two that would shower her with love and let her cuddle up in their rooms with them. Cuz did I mention that this girl likes to cuddle? Once you are a friend, you are a snuggle buddy. She's also the perfect size (at about 35lb), so she won't squish you if she gets on your lap for some lovin!!

If this beautiful girl is tugging at your heart strings and you want to help her complete her journey of healing, drop an application today to meet this sweetheart!
