My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Presley!

Presley was born on 6/9/23, and she is a beautiful Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is fostered in Bel Air, MD.

Presley is a very special girl who, along with her 10 littermates, was born and lovingly raised in a PPR foster home. Presley and one of her sisters were born with a vision impairment. This impairment is most likely the result of a neurological issue, genetics, or possibly mom had an infection during gestation. Presley appears to see shadows. Having limited vision does not limit what Presley can do. Presley is a joyful, loving girl who cannot wait to thrive in a home of her own-just like her sister and the rest of her littermates.

Presley is a true Velcro dog! She wants nothing more than to be near her people. She is affectionate and devoted. Her favorite spot is hanging out between her foster mom’s legs while she cooks or following her people around the house. You’ll never feel lonely when Presley is around! Presley would be happiest in a home where she won't be left alone for long periods.

Presley lives in a foster home with dogs and children. She is gentle and loving with everyone she meets.

Presley works hard to always use her best manners. She is food-motivated which comes in handy with training. Presley loves her squeaky chew toys and enjoys being with other dogs. All she wants is to be a part of the pack! A home with another friendly dog would be ideal for Presley.

Presley has adapted well to her routine. She is a smart and resourceful puppy. She quickly learned to map her foster home and navigates it well. She also has a heightened sense of sound and smell, so much so that her limited vision is not always apparent. Presley is well-behaved and doesn't get into things typical puppies do unless it's something smelly (think dirty socks or food), and who could blame her? That’s pretty tempting for any dog!

When Presley was 3 months old, she went a bit too fast and took a tumble down a flight of stairs breaking her front legs in the process. Presley had surgery to insert pins and plates. After a few weeks of crate rest, she was able to resume normal puppy activity. Presley’s orthopedist said her legs would grow normally, and they have. Presley does not seem to have any physical limitations. However, she has shown fear of steps and won’t go down steps independently. Her foster family continues to work on this with her. We believe a home with no steps (or only a few steps) would be ideal.

If you are looking for a dog who knows there are no limits, who will be 100% loyal and true, and who will see each day with joy and possibility, Presley just may be the one you've been looking for!

Please Note:

Unless an existing good vet record exists, we will not adopt to anyone further than 1-hour drive from the listed location. We need to be in close proximity to adopters when we need to follow up on vaccinations and spay/neuter. There is an additional spay/neuter deposit for an adopter within one hour who does not have a current or prior good vet record.

We review veterinary care for applicants. This includes regular well visits, core vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm, tickborne tests, regular monthly heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention. You MUST contact your veterinarian’s office to permit them to speak to us BEFORE we call them to verify the care you have provided for your pets.

Applications are available at www.puppypawsrescue.org If your application meets our adoption criteria, we will contact you within 1 week. At that time, you will be contacted (usually by email) to schedule a phone interview and a virtual home visit (Facetime, Skype, etc). PLEASE CHECK your SPAM folder for emails from Puppy Paws Rescue.

Due to the volume of applications, applications that do not move forward to an interview may not receive a reply within that time frame. Our rescue is an all-volunteer team managing families, our paying jobs, households, foster dogs, application processing, interviews, home visits, follow-up, transports, and much more. We ask that you be courteous and patient with us.

If you’re seeing this listing the dog/puppy is still available. Please do not send an inquiry asking if the dog/puppy is available.

All of our dogs/puppies are kept in private foster homes. For this reason, we do not schedule meets until after an application has been processed and approved. If you’re interested in meeting the animal, you must first submit an application on our website- www.puppypawsrescue.org. If you're not ready to adopt but would like to learn about fostering, please contact us to get started! We are always looking for fosters!
