My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Erika!

The vibrant three-year-old Cattle Dog mix with a heart as dynamic as her personality. Erika is not just a dog; she's a 32-pound bundle of energy ready to bring joy and excitement into your home.
Erika's sensitivity adds a layer of charm to her busy body nature, and once she warms up, her friendliness shines through, creating a bond that's as enduring as her playful spirit. Picture the joy of earning her trust and being rewarded with the loyalty and love of a pup who craves connection.
This busy body is ready for action, making every day an adventure filled with playfulness and excitement. While Erika shows potential with dogs, her preference for a slow introduction showcases her thoughtful approach to relationships. With patience and care, she has the potential to form lasting friendships and create a harmonious environment in your home.
For the perfect family match, we recommend Erika finds her forever home with children ages 13 and up.

If you're ready to add a bundle of energy and joy to your life, call us at 330-487-0333 ext 226 to set up an appointment and meet Erika in person. Don't miss out on the opportunity to make Erika, the lively Cattle Dog mix, a cherished member of your forever family!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
