Chicago, IL – Adopt Zena the Boxer/Black Mouth Cur-Mix

Zena is a beautiful, fun, snuggly sweet, and playful 18-month-old, 47-pound female Boxer/Black Mouth Cur-mix looking for a loving guardian.

We sent out a DNA test recently and are anxiously awaiting the results to see if our breed guess is correct.

Zena loves to play fetch and hang out with her favorite humans and she loves all dogs. Ideally, she’s looking for a calm home with adults who will continue her training. She LOVES to learn and work for her treats.

Zena walks beautifully on leash - unless she sees a squirrel or bunny! But, with training she can be very focused on her handler. She’s already had three professional training sessions and responds beautifully.

Zena is also excellent at the groomer and lets them easily trim her nails. She follows the nail trim with kisses for the groomer.

She’s very puppyish and playful. When she’s excited, she can get mouthy, so someone willing to continue her training is necessary.

She loves to play with dogs of all shapes, ages, and sizes that match her energy and play style. She is a bit food-assertive, which is why I’d recommend her as an only pet, for now.

Zena is very healthy, spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on rabies, distemper, and bordetella vaccines, dewormed, and heartworm negative, and on monthly preventative.

Her adoption fee of $150 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue.
