Maxine came to us as a neglect case as she was found locked in a basement covered in feces, starved and in a fast path to meeting a horrible fate. A kind civilian managed to get a hold of her and getting her at least into a fenced in area. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough for poor Maxine. Our volunteers came in to assess Maxine, begin some training and prepare her for intake as we were full at the time. But, after seeing her for a third time, we couldn't stand the sight and made an exception.

Despite everything she's been through far beyond what we can share here, she has proven to us that's she's as sweet as pie. Maxine craves the attention and just wants to feel loved, to be included. The best part is she is a fast learner. We have done some basic training on her but could use some addition training for some manners.

Maxine is excellent for her crate, will go in on her own. Knows sit, lay and wait (when she has the patience. She has a few quirks, but who doesn't? This is a fantastic dog who would make a great companion for someone who's looking for a true partner.

Her DNA Scans suggests she's Boxer, Corso, Rottweiler and Pit Mix.

This is a chewer which is typical for her breed. Enrichment is highly important. She loves bones and toys. Her favorite Game is fetch and has a collection of balls. Plastic Spikey ones are best.
