My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Just look at these pleading eyes!  Roman is a sweet, gentle old soul who is about 9 years old but don't let that fool you he loves being outside and active.  He is believed to be a Boxer/Hound mix.  He was a local owner surrender with his sister and son when his owner fell on hard times and could not properly care for them.  Unfortunately, Roman came into rescue underweight and with skin issues.  However, he is doing better in foster care - has gained back his weight and his skin/fur are looking better every day.  Roman loves everyone he meets, even the resident cat.  He bonds quickly to his people - he just wants to please his family and prefers to be near them.  He will need an adopter that is home often.  Roman is potty trained and will howl/whine to let you know he needs to go out.  Roman enjoys cuddling and attention.  He loves to talk and have conversations with his foster parents.  He loves food and is learning he doesn't have to look for food anymore; it will come regular now.  He takes treats very gently.  He will sleep in crate at night as long as he knows his family is near.  Roman is learning it's ok to be in his kennel for a brief time; family will come back soon.  He is not destructive in the home but will search for food items when left alone.  He is doing pretty well walking on leash, but will pull when a squirrel is in sight (and he is pretty strong).  He really enjoys going on hikes with his people then come home and snuggle on the couch with you.    Roman prefers to be the only dog as he wants all of your attention but will share it with a cat.  This boy is so deserving of a home with someone who will love him for the rest of his life!  Roman's adoption fee is $150 which goes towards his vaccines and medical care up to adoption, microchip and costs assosciated with fostering.

More about this rescue

In 2018 a group of animal lovers got together to form a special animal rescue.

Every year millions of pets are surrendered to animal shelters and ultimately euthanized. In NY state alone thousands of dogs and cats are neglected, abandoned , homeless , and left in shelters. Seven was one of many pets abandoned by the only family he had ever known.

Seventh Heaven Rescue was created to help any animal in need. Our mission is to try to keep dogs out of shelters as well as rescue dogs that have found themselves in shelters. Our goal is to provide them the love , compassion, kindness , dignity and respect as well as medical care they need and deserve.

Our mission is to honor Seven’s memory in the hope that we can help other dogs and any animal in need just like him find loving families. We are strictly a non for profit organization. All donations go directly to those animals in our care.
