My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Don't let his adorable looks fool you. Mr. Feeny is one grump of an old dude. In fact, if the movie Grumpy Old Men were to be remade, Mr. Feeny would easily get a starring role. He's not all grumbles and grouchiness though. Mr. Feeny will be a loving, snuggly boy when he gets comfortable and finds his person. Don't expect him to always be lovey-dovey. If he is not in the mood for pets and snuggles, this old man will let you know. Do you love to give your dog kisses? Then Mr. Feeny is not the dog for you. If there's one thing he dislikes more than kids, it's kisses. He will love you until he doesn't. But don't worry, he will love you again.

While people are not always Mr. Feeny's jam, dogs most definitely are. Mr. Feeny really shines when he has a doggy friend who can match his laidback speed. Because of this, it is strongly preferred that he goes to a home where he can have a canine companion to snuggle and occasionally play with. Mr. Feeny has some arthritis so he will never be a hiker or marathon runner. He is more than happy to be carried around in a dog sling and despite his crankiness, he does love to go out and about for short trips to a brewery or bottle shop.

Like most ornery old dudes, Mr. Feeny takes time to warm up to people. This dog has seen some things in his lifetime, so it takes time to gain his trust. In his younger days, Mr. Feeny must have been a party animal. He had to have several teeth pulled when he came to Freedom Ride. He has one lone front tooth (that you may be lucky enough to see if you go in for that kiss) and some molars in the back. Mr. Feeny also has a heart condition that requires daily meds and at least one yearly checkup at the cardiologist. Potential adopters must have experience with senior dogs that require ongoing medical care.

The ideal home for Mr. Feeny would be with a single person or a couple that has no kids. Kids make Mr. Feeny nervous and anxious as heck. He is crate-trained and mostly house-trained. If he is startled or super excited, he will piddle a tiny amount. At night, he sleeps soundly in a dog bed.

If you fit the bill and are interested in bringing this grumpy old man into your life to help him live out his golden years, please apply today!
