My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy post: Contact Kareytis at 240-461-9558 to learn more about Misty. Meet Misty, a vibrant and energetic 1-year-and-4-month-old pup we welcomed into our home from the Humane Rescue Alliance last September. Originally intended as a foster, we quickly fell in love with her playful spirit. Misty is fantastic with other dogs, showing no signs of aggression during introductions. While she hasn't interacted with cats, her friendly nature suggests adaptability. She's especially great with older kids, thriving with our 11 and 12-year-old boys. However, we've decided to find her a new family due to a preference for older children; she has displayed some discomfort around our 5 and 2-year-old girls. In terms of health, Misty is due for vaccinations and has sensitive skin, common for short-haired pit bulls. Her dislikes include vacuum noises, but she adores playing catch, running, and cuddling in laps. She's a quick learner, though a bit stubborn, making her an excellent fit for a family ready for an active and engaging companion. For more information or if you're interested in Misty, feel free to reach out. We're located in Silver Spring, MD, and have vet records from Palisades Veterinary Clinic in Washington, DC. Contact Kareytis at 240-461-9558 to learn more about Misty. ***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. But, we still want to help those dogs (and cats) on their journey! By courtesy posting, AAHA is offering our website/network as an additional resource to help an owner or shelter gain additional exposure for the dog they are trying to place. AAHA has not met nor evaluated the dog (or cat) we are courtesy posting. AAHA makes no representation about courtesy posted pets including the health and temperament and accepts no liability in this exchange. Arrangements for adoptions are made between the caretaker of the pet and the potential adopter.May 19, 2024, 4:53 pm

Go meet their pets

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
