My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Smart, confident STAR is a beautiful female black and gray tabby teenager kitty    with lots of love to offer. She has dramatic stripes and spots! She delights in batting her pompom balls around the room, playing wand toy with her favorite human and crawling into her foster’s lap for pets, a good cuddle and a nap. Light toys she can carry in her mouth are her favorites, and she will entertain herself for hours. She is an energetic sweetheart and gives no indication that she has a heart murmur and a bad valve in her heart (AV valve dysplasia).  As a special needs kitty, Star will need a home that will watch her closely and keep track of her breathing and energy. As she grows she will require additional tests by a heart specialist to monitor her status. For now, with one daily pill (a blood thinner) she is ready to scamper and play, and to be your loving companion!

As a young cat, Star will do best in a home with a calm animal friend (cat or dog) to keep her company; a playmate who would not overtax her or stress her heart would be ideal.  She also has littermates (Scamp and Smudge), and could possibly be adopted with one of her sisters. She is eager to make friends with new cats, and has learned that some dogs make good playmates too. She has not been around kids but should do well with properly supervised children who understand her limitations.

Star received an echocardiogram and cardiac workup at OSU; a copy of the report and full medical details will be available after you submit an adoption application. Star has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, is negative for FeLV and FIV, and her adoption package includes a free wellness visit with one of our vet partners.

To meet STAR in foster care, submit an adoption application for consideration at CatRescues.org/Adopt or a paper copy available at the store. A volunteer will contact you within 3-5 business days for a possible meet and greet. The $70 adoption fee allows us to continue to provide care and find loving homes for abandoned and neglected cats in our Eugene/Springfield community. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All potential adopters are required to complete our application and contract. Our contract stipulates the requirements for care of our pets. These documents are available through e-mail or at our adoption events. The documents are reviewed by our staff and together with a face to face interview we explore the potential new home. If all parties agree to the specifics of the contract the dog or cat can go home. Adoption fee varies with age of pet.
All pets are current on vaccinations, health checked by our veterinarian, De-wormed, treated with flea medication, spayed or neutered, and cats are felv/fiv tested.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to provide care and find loving homes for cats and kittens of our community, with a focus on those with special needs. Currently we only work with Cats. We offer temporary housing in foster homes until they can be placed through our adoption process. We have adoption centers within both Petsmarts in Eugene, at Chad Drive, near Costco, and 29th and Willamette; PetCo by Valley River Center and Wags Dog Emporium on Coburg Rd. Cat Rescue & Adoption Network works with humane societies, other animal rescue groups, the public and government animal services agencies to offer them relief from their overpopulation problem. All cats in our custody receive the medical care they need. Cat Rescue & Adoption Network is a non-profit organization. All money raised is used to help Cat Rescue & Adoption Network save as many animal lives as possible.
