My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scarlett is a shy but extremely sweet 4 year old grey tabby. She was adopted 4 years ago with her sister Panko. Due to medical issues with her family both girls were recently returned to the rescue and are looking for a new and loving home they can share together. She was raised and has lived with her sister Panko for her entire life.

She is nervous of new things but loves attention and petting. She loves to chase bells and toys around the floor. She loves head scratches and snoozing in the sink.

She eats well (a little too well. We're working on it. :)) and uses the box perfectly. She responds well to treats and is overall a sweet girl.

Panko is an outgoing and quirky 4 year old brown tabby girl. She was adopted with her sister Scarlett 4 years ago. Unfortunately due to medical issues with her family both girls were recently returned to the rescue.

She is happiest rubbing your feet and legs. She loves to give kisses to your feet as well and will sometimes give a little love nip on your toes. She is very particularly about wanting attention and petting on her terms and timeline. She can get overstimulated with too much petting or chaos around her. She is a bit too rough for any kids as she needs someone who is firm with her but knows when to backoff and give her space when she is overwhelmed. She is learning better coping skills but it is a slow process for her.

She is looking for a patient and loving home for both her and sister Scarlett as they have been together for their whole lives. But they are sisters and can sometimes get on each others nerves. If you have a sister, you know. ;) She loves chasing fluffy balls and snoozing in anything she can get into.

She eats well (a little too well. We're working on it. :)) and uses the box perfectly. She responds well to treats and is a bold outgoing girl.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We have a quick but thorough adoption process. We ask you to fill out an application and we will touch base with you by phone. If we feel you are a good fit for the animal you would like to adopt based upon your application, we will want to do a home visit and have you meet the pet. If everything checks out, we will ask that you sign an adoption contract and pay a donation - usually $75 for cats and $150 for dogs. This includes all vetting, spay/neuter, vaccines, etc.

Our contract allows us to come visit you and your new family member after the adoption to make sure everything is going well and your new pet is happy & healthy.

Go meet their pets

We meet potential adopters by appointment only, typically in the foster's or potential adopter's home. Dogs can be arranged to be seen at a local park or a similar location.

More about this rescue

Good Karma Pet Rescue is a small network of foster homes in South Florida dedicated to providing dogs and cats in need with the love and help they need and deserve.

GK was started in 2011 by Stacey Chen, who decided that she could best provide for her foster animals by starting a rescue that aims for best care rather than high volume. We intend to stay as small as we need to be to ensure that every one of our foster animals is treated with the same care and respect we show our own furry family.

GK is based in Fort Lauderdale and is supported by wonderful, dedicated foster parents throughout the South Florida area. If you are interested in helping to save lives through volunteering, fostering, or adopting, please get in touch with us!
