Nyla has been waiting for a forever home since Thanksgiving weekend. She’s seen too many holidays come & pass, and we are hoping that she can experience the next milestone in a loving home.
Nyla is house trained, well mannered on leash walks, and playful. She loves sun gazing, playing fetch, chomping on a new toy. She can entertain herself when it comes to her people being busy. Give her a toy, or a secure fenced in space and she will gladly sniff away, or lay out in the sun. She is also treat motivated which means when it comes to learning basic commands with you, she will be receptive and eager to please. Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
