Rooney and Gracie have been with us since they were tiny kittens! They are now 6 months old and are spunky sisters who love all things kitten-y. This includes middle of the night laps around the room, pouncing on toy mice and chillin’ with each other. Even though they were born to the same litter, Little Rooney is quite petite compared to her big sister, Gracie. They would be OK going into a home with other cats. They would not do well in a home with dogs. They can be a little reserved at first, but quickly open up and become full on purr machines and snugglers. Rooney and Gracie would make the perfect addition to any family and will be adopted as a pair. The first step in our process is to fill out our online application at our website, www.care4strays.org. Once received, it will be reviewed by one of our trained volunteers. If approved, we'll be in touch to arrange a "meet and greet" with the animal. All of our cats/dogs are in private foster homes.

More about this rescue

Since our founding in 1995 by Lynn Cancro, Caring About The Strays (C.A.T.S.), Inc. has worked to find “forever homes” for abandoned, unwanted, neglected, or abused companion animals.

All the animals in our care are in foster homes, which helps socialize the cat or dog and allows us to identify the best type of home for each animal to ensure a successful adoption. We also work to reduce the overpopulation of feral cats with our Trap-Neuter-Release program. In addition, our team also strives to educate the public about the importance of spaying or neutering their pets to decrease the number of unwanted pets.

C.A.T.S. is not a shelter in the traditional sense; we rely on private foster homes to house the many unwanted animals in our care.

Our Resale Shop (80 Kinderkamack Road in Westwood, NJ) helps fund our efforts. Please consider donating to our Resale Shop. Donations of brand-new and gently-used items are needed year-round and can be donated during shop hours Monday – Saturday 10:00 – 5:00.
