My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the Chocolate Litter! Five beautiful kittens. Five boys (Reese, Hershey, Kit Kat,Truffle and Tootsie). They are deliciously cute! They are your typical kitten crew… They love to play, and chase each other around. After a good wrestling session they will all cuddle up together (or on their foster family) and take a Power Nap before they are on to the next play session.
We are currently accepting applications for pre-adoption but they still have a few weeks before they can go home. They will be paired up and one kitten can go with mom (Godiva, who is up for adoption as well). Godiva can also be adopted to a home as a single with no kids & no other resident pets.

Godiva is sweet but needs time to adjust. She adores all of her kittens. She will purr and let you pet her but can get startled easily. A calm household that is willing to work with her to bring out her true personality would be her ideal home.

If you’re interested in adopting any pairs from this adorable little family, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.care4strays.org/adoption-application

Please note our service area is the Pascack Valley within Bergen County, NJ, and its surrounding area. Please consider our distance when applying to adopt an animal as we personally deliver all adopted animals to their forever homes.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in our process is to fill out our online application at our website, www.care4strays.org. Once received, it will be reviewed by one of our trained volunteers. If approved, we'll be in touch to arrange a "meet and greet" with the animal. All of our cats/dogs are in private foster homes.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Our animals are given wonderful care in private foster homes. In order to meet them, we require a completed application, which you can find at our website, www.care4strays.org.

Also, please check our website for adoption events.

More about this rescue

Since our founding in 1995 by Lynn Cancro, Caring About The Strays (C.A.T.S.), Inc. has worked to find “forever homes” for abandoned, unwanted, neglected, or abused companion animals.

All the animals in our care are in foster homes, which helps socialize the cat or dog and allows us to identify the best type of home for each animal to ensure a successful adoption. We also work to reduce the overpopulation of feral cats with our Trap-Neuter-Release program. In addition, our team also strives to educate the public about the importance of spaying or neutering their pets to decrease the number of unwanted pets.

C.A.T.S. is not a shelter in the traditional sense; we rely on private foster homes to house the many unwanted animals in our care.

Our Resale Shop (80 Kinderkamack Road in Westwood, NJ) helps fund our efforts. Please consider donating to our Resale Shop. Donations of brand-new and gently-used items are needed year-round and can be donated during shop hours Monday – Saturday 10:00 – 5:00.
