My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you searching for a gentle, sweet companion to brighten your days? Look no further than Beatrice! This lovely pup is ready to bring joy and love into your home.

Beatrice is house trained and has mastered the art of navigating the doors in her environment. She understands that the back door is for outdoor adventures, the front door is for leash walks, and the garage door means it's time for a car ride. Her crate is her cozy retreat, always open for her to enter and relax at her leisure.

Beatrice is incredibly friendly and sweet. She definitely prefers to wait for other dogs to approach her, regardless of their size or breed. Her gentle nature always shines through, especially around children. With permission, she approaches them slowly, allowing gentle pets without any licking or jumping.

Beatrice's interests include occasional toy play, but her favorite pastime is counter surfing for bits of paper, which she proudly parades around afterward. While she's not particularly motivated by treats, she's a patient eater, waiting for her bowl to be placed before stepping forward.

In terms of outdoor activities, Beatrice adores her walks. She eagerly carries her leash and sits patiently as her owner prepares for their stroll. Whether it's a short jaunt or a longer trek, Beatrice is ready to explore the world around her. She does have a penchant for adventure so a fenced yard and a watchful eye is a must.

At night, Beatrice is content to snuggle up in her dog bed beside her human's bed, and she's a fantastic companion on car rides, patiently waiting while errands are run.

Whether you're seeking a solo furry friend or considering adding to your fur family, Beatrice's adaptable nature makes her a perfect fit. With her loving disposition and gentle demeanor, Beatrice is sure to steal your heart from the moment you meet her. Don't hesitate to welcome this sweet soul into your home today!

If Beatrice is tugging on your heartstrings, please submit your adoption application at www.henricohumane.org/adopt-a-dog or email dogs@henricohumane.org with any questions you may have.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Potential adopters are carefully screened to ensure we find the right forever home for the dogs and cats we rescue. Since animals live in foster homes, we get to know their personality and temperament. The adoption process allows us to learn about you, so that we can help find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION PROCESS

After finding a cat or dog that you are interested in, you'll need to complete an adoption application either online (https://henricohumane.org) or at an adoption stand. An adoption coordinator will review your application to ensure your situation matches the needs of the animal you're interested in. If completing an application online, please note, every question must be answered on the application for it to be reviewed by an adoption coordinator. As part of the review process, we'll request references. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, it may take up to 48 hours for an adoption coordinator to contact you.

ADOPTION FEES

$100 for a cat or kitten
$150 for an adult dog
$200 for a puppy (under 1 year of age)

The adoption fee covers the cost of shots, spay/neuter, microchipping and worm/flea treatments.

Go meet their pets

Adoption stands are held on Saturdays at Petco Short Pump (Next to Trader Joe's) minus major holiday weekends. Adoption stands are from 11-2 but please see our stand schedule for up to date information. (https://henricohumane.org/events/).

Please note that not all animals come to stand so if you are intersted in a specific animal, please email dogs@henricohumane.org or cats@henricohumane.org on the Friday prior to stand. Thank you!

More about this rescue

Henrico Humane Society is an all-volunteer, foster-based,
non-profit organization that rescues dogs and cats from
across Central Virginia and places them in loving, forever
homes.

HHS has saved hundreds of animals each year since
1991. Many of the dogs and cats we rescue come from
shelters in rural areas where they have fewer adoption
opportunities. The majority of the animals in our care live
with foster parents until they find a permanent home.

We don't have a shelter and most of our animals live in foster homes until they're adopted, which allows us to get to know their personality and temperament. Applicants are carefully screened to ensure we find the right forever home for the dogs and cats we rescue. Our adoption process allows us to learn about potential adopters so we can help find the perfect matcher their home.
