*STORY (please read entire listing):
Rocky was rescued back in April from the shelter. He was very sick, but with lots of love and care, he has been able to become a beautiful and healthy boy. The shelter estimated him to be around 6 years old, but our vet estimates him to be around 2-3 years old.

Rocky is FIV positive. FIV positive kitties can live with other NONFIV kitties. It is only spread through very deep bite wounds, like feral cats would inflict upon each other in serious fights. FIV cats can live long healthy lives and can live as long as NONFIV cats.

Personality/Likes/Dislikes
Rocky is very human motivated. He loves to be pet, and will sit in his foster's lap as long as she allows it. He is an excellent biscuit maker, and will start kneading on his blanket when he's being pet. Rocky is vocal for attention, and will follow his foster around to get pets. He likes to have head scritchins the most. He does not really prefer to be picked up and held like that, but he does like laps. He also isn't a big fan of belly rubs. Rocky is pretty playful still and does play with the other cats. He likes to "hide" in his cardboard scratch house and pounce on his toys. He recently discovered catnip and he's a huge fan. He rolls around in it and can't get enough of it. He enjoys window watching and loves to take his afternoon naps by the windows.

Other Animals/Children
Rocky would be fine in a home as an only cat or maybe a fewer cat household. While he gets along with most cats, he does like to be the "boss." He will be bigger than most cats that he is with, but he's a very gentle boy. He won't do well with a dominant cat who also wants to be the boss. He has not been around dogs, but we think he would adjust with one that is calmer/cat friendly. He has not been around kids, but we think he would do well with older kids who are calmer/cat friendly.

Health Info
Rocky is neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, and FIV positive/FELV negative.

More about this rescue

Furry Nation Salvation, Inc. is a foster based all-volunteer non-profit animal rescue organization located in Florida. We commit our resources throughout Volusia County and surrounding areas in finding permanent homes for abandoned, unwanted, and neglected animals. Run by dedicated volunteers, our work is a heartfelt collaboration in making a difference for the innocent animals without a voice. Our foster volunteers “one on one” care help us to determine the animals true personality to best fit them into their forever home. We also promote, practice, and work, in the area of TNR (trap, neuter, return). This method of population reduction and control for feral cats has proven to be successful and we are committed to this method. FNS strives to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering their pets and provide locations where they are able to do so at a discounted price. We assist in transporting animals to and from veterinary clinics, and help individuals place their unwanted pet who would otherwise be dumped at an animal shelter with an uncertain future. We do so by utilizing social media and animal adoption sites and always making ourselves available with support and advice. We love what we do and together we make a difference for so many. Furry Nation Salvation does not have a facility and rely on foster homes for our rescued animals. Our current goal is to establish a dedicated rescue facility to be able to help even more animals in need.
