My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rune
Were you aware that a Rune is an early Germanic or Viking alphabet? Not that I am a Viking cat. I was born a Hoosier and will probably never leave Indiana. But my name is pretty cool! I am 5-years+, a dilute Calico (grey, buff, white), and quite a fashion-forward girl! I lived with my previous family for three years, but the existing cats in the home and I did not accept each other. I guess the low cat on the totem pole gets the boot. But since coming to HSHC, I've enjoyed my studio apartment, room service, and regular entertainment from staff and volunteers. I was a bit shy when the interviewer lady stopped by to talk. But soon, I snuggled right next to her, gave her nose kisses, and rubbed my face against hers. We enjoyed discussing my starting over with new humans and agreed that having a slow, gradual introduction to other pets is the only way. I know you didn't ask, but I have never lived with kids, and I did not get along with the dog I lived with. If possible, I'd love to be the only 4-legged family member. We also planned how I would lose some weight: Hot Yoga, here I come! In conclusion, I am excited about starting one of my nine lives with you! 5-6-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
