My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Halle has blossomed since being in foster for a couple of months. She had the unfortunate luck of being stuck in the shelter during the URI shutdown WCAC had late last year and had become quite anxious. In foster, she has had a chance to decompress and show her sweet, fun loving personality. She is a beautiful, curious, mischievous, happy young lady who loves playing and snuggling with her people. She adores my 18 year old son, and seems to especially like young men, but is more wary of older adult males. She warms up to them; it just takes a little longer. She has a strong prey drive, chasing all the small critters she sees in the yard. She was tested and labeled "No dogs" at the shelter. She'd do best as an only pet. Halle is house and crate trained.

She is very enthusiastic about food and is still learning proper manners around people who have food. She has shown no signs of food aggression with me. I can take her food bowl away while she is eating with no issue.

Halle is getting over her skepticism of new people, but is still quite cautious and can be a little grumbly at first, so introductions should be at her pace. She has proven to be too difficult for me to walk on a leash. She is quite strong and pulls more than I (5' 6" middle aged woman) can handle, especially if she spots another dog. So she hangs out supervised in my fenced backyard, securing the perimeter against squirrels, sniffing, chewing a nylabone, having zoomies and playing tug with a rope toy. She has an impressive vertical jump and climbing skills, and she cleared my 4.5' gate with no problem. Therefore, a 6' fenced yard is a must.
