My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

One blue eye and one hazel eye? This gorgeous girl is Pixie, an 11-month old , 40 lb. Catahoula mix who is ready for a new home with you and your fun-loving, energetic, and tolerant male or female dog! As always, a slow introduction between your dog and a new dog on neutral territory is a good way to start. Because of her tendency to be a mouthy puppy, she may not be a good fit for a home with young children.

Pixie's foster reports that she is besties with her 3-year old female pittie, and respectful of her 3-year old male hound who is more reserved and mellow. She loves her people, too! Pixie is nearly fully potty-trained, but as a puppy, she needs to be let outside to do her business every 2-3 hours, making her the perfect companion for a work-from-home pet owner. Otherwise, she is treat-motivated and responds well to praise, so training her to use a doggie door should be possible. As a Catahoula mix, Pixie has and will continue to have a lot of energy, so an active family (with a dog, preferably) would be a great fit! One last thing: Pixie will have a slight limp her entire life, as she suffered a broken leg before coming to the shelter; however, she has recovered well and is ready to go home!

Pixie is in foster, so she isn't at the shelter currently. If you are interested in learning more about Pixie, please reach out at wcacdogfoster@gmail.com!

Pixie is up-to-date on vaccinations, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and she is microchipped and spayed. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.
