Lee is full of love despite a rough past. He was found abandoned in the fall of 2023; his finder was only able to keep him temporarily and Lee lived outside. The shift to living in a shelter kennel has been tough on Lee, and he has developed wounds on his face from rubbing against his kennel bars out of stress.
But when Lee is spending time with the volunteers who love him, he proves that he is still so capable of love and joy. Lee will melt to the ground for pets and belly rubs, and he absolutely LOVES rolling around with a squeaky toy! His greatest nemesis is the squirrel, and because of Lee’s prey drive, a cat-free home would be best for him. Lee deserves a forever home filled with squeaky toys and belly rubs, and in return you will have a best friend for life.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
