Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Vera!
The playful 8-year-old Terrier mix weighing 66 lbs, with a heart as big as her love for toys and playtime! Vera is ready to fill your home with joy and laughter, bringing endless energy and excitement to every moment. Vera is a sweetheart who adores playtime and enjoys every toy she encounters. Her boundless energy and love for fetch and long walks make her the perfect companion for anyone seeking an active and playful furry friend.
If there are children in her forever home, Vera would do best with kids aged 10 years old or older. Her playful nature and energy levels are better suited for older children who can give her a bit of space at first before cuddling up for some love. Vera likes most dogs and shows great potential to live with a canine companion in her forever home. Whether playing or simply hanging out, she enjoys the company of other dogs and is sure to make a great furry friend, although she would prefer a dog that is as laid back as she is.
Vera`s future home will be one filled with love, laughter, and plenty of playtime as she continues to spread joy to everyone she meets. With the right match, she`s sure to become an integral part of the family and bring happiness to all.

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.
We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.
Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter
Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
