My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A FRIENDLY & ADORABLE GUY:  Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 20 lbs.

Hi, my name is Tex!  I had a home, as I was adopted from Mostly Mutts a few years ago.  Unfortunately, my family fell on hard times, so I am back with Mostly Mutts looking for a new family to love!  Though I’m not the best at smiling for the camera and my pictures may make me look a little grumpy, I am NOT a grumpy boy, but rather friendly and adorable!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I like the older dog in my foster home, and the 2 younger and smaller dogs I met recently too!  I do growl at the mostly blind dog when he bumps into me or approaches me in my dog bed, so my foster corrects that behavior and I try to listen, but I don’t love being bumped by him.  I do nap with him at times though.   I met a puppy too that invaded my personal space and I barked at her to let her know this, though I was tolerant.  So, if you have another dog, let’s meet!  / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet, but I am working on my ‘happy to see you’ jumping, so my foster recommends no very young kids that I may bump over and let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  When asked, the volunteers at the shelter describe me with one main word – sweet, sweet, sweet!  I was always excited to see them, since I am very much a people dog.  I seek out attention whenever I can and have been very friendly.  When guests leave my foster home, I may tug at their pants as if to stay, ‘no wait, don’t go’! My foster has started picking me up to watch guests leave as it keeps me calm.  I am a ‘wonderful gentleman’ just looking for a family to love and be loved by!  In my foster home, they say that I’m a sweet, friendly, gentle, and a mannerly gentleman too! / My energy level is 3-5.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’ command and have shown great leash manners.  I bet you can teach me even more!  I take treats gently too. I consider it my job to be an alert barker like when a delivery person pulls up or a squirrel runs by, and sometimes I bark with the other dogs.  I think I may bark a bit too much at all the noises that are in an apartment building, so probably best no apartment/condo type home.  / I don’t need a crate in my foster home. / I had a few accidents on the shelter schedule but am doing well in my foster home as long as I’m taken out often enough.  My foster has pee pads for her own dog that I’ve learned to potty on, if I need to go and can’t get outside, so you may want to consider having those for me too.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I thrive on attention and love being with people!  Scratches and head kisses make me happy, and I enjoy sitting next to my foster family, but not really in their laps.   I’m not a big fan of toys, but I sure would be a fan of being your loving companion! / Though I ride very well in the car, my foster doesn’t think that I love to do that.  I can’t think of any real dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I had a dental cleaning, so my mouth is clean again. Since I’m an older fellow, I take an over-the-counter Cosequin supplement that’s good for all older dogs.

I am looking for a loving home with a wonderful family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
