Athena (born 11/2/2018) is an incredibly loving, 60 pound, housebroken, American Bulldog. She was found tied to a pole on Broadway in NYC. Despite being only 5 years old, she appeared older as her body made it clear that she had been used for breeding and was underweight, dehydrated and malnourished. The doctors prescribed medications for her ears, eyes and skin. Once Athena had some time to eat well and have daily medical treatments that healed her, we felt she was ok to be spayed and have various lumps removed. Fortunately, she is recovering beautifully and her heart is full of love and affection for other dogs and humans. Athena is a real joy to be with and she will snore her way into anyone’s heart!

The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us.
