My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

9 Year Old Brick recently lost the only home he ever knew. His owners had him since he was a puppy where he had a wonderful life. However, once Brick's family had a child of their own, his life changed. They did not set him up for success or properly prepare him for a new baby in the home so shortly thereafter Brick was confined to the kitchen for 2 years of his life. That meant no more long walks, no more family outings, no more snuggling on the couch.

To make matters worse, Brick was also never neutered as the family was considering breeding him which also didn't help the situation. On two separate occasions poor Brick was attached at the local dog park. As a result of this it caused him to become dog selective and needing to be an only dog. We are going to make sure Brick gets neutered and will also have a Senior Blood Panel done to ensure he is healthy and up to date with everything.

Two weeks ago, the family had a bunch of people over and amongst the chaos Brick bit their daughter who thankfully was fine but as a result the family opted to discard poor Brick. He stayed at their vets office for a few weeks in boarding while the family found him a temporary foster. She has been taking amazing care of Brick but unfortunately she cannot keep him permanently as she has a cat who he doesn't want to share his space with. She reached out to our rescue for help and we weren't going to turn her away. We have physically met Brick who is the sweetest boy and you would never believe he was 9 years old. He absolutely loves his humans and would enjoy the companionship of someone that is able to give it to him. As we took him on a walk, other than whine he did not seem all that phased by other dogs walking by. But considering all this poor baby has been through we still recommend him to be the only dog and pet.

The ideal home would be with an adult or adults only with preferable husky experience. He currently has a bit of anxiety but that is to be expected from all he has been through. With the proper love and stability this boy will thrive once in his forever home.

More about this rescue

Road to Home was started to be able to focus on animals in need and to provide support to local rescues. After years of working in shelters and with rescues, we decided starting our own rescue was the best way to do what we do best! We are a 100 percent non-profit and 100 percent of the money we raise goes towards animals in need. Our 5013c is pending. Here’s what we will focus on:

-Providing guidance and support for re-homing an animal.
-Providing medical attention, training, spay/neuter, and food/supplies to a homeless animal.
-Pulling an animal from a euthanasia list or from an unsafe situation and placing them in a foster or permanent home.
-Working with rescues and shelters to facilitate adoptions by doing home checks, adoption applications, and networking to find foster or permanent homes for animals in need.
-Working with rescues and shelters to coordinate adoption events, food drives, and fundraisers.
-Raising money through a Chip-In to help specific dogs with training, medical needs, and adoption.
-Raising funds that can be allocated to specific needs of other rescues and shelters (including medical expenses, training expenses, food, and transport) as well as pledging money to animals in jeopardy of euthanasia.
