Friendly & active - that is our guy Carlisle. Carlisle is described as a playful adolescent. At just 1 year young, adopting Carlisle gives you the incredible benefit of building a strong bond from the early days, and because he is impressionable you will be able to shape and mold his behavior!
Carlisle is house trained which will make the transition to your forever home a bit easier. He is also treat motivated which is a big plus for when it comes to continued training - he will be eager to please. Volunteers say that he is a goofy boy who is sure to make you laugh.
What type of home will Carlisle do well in? Adult home with an owner that will be willing to take things slow with introductions. Once Carlisle feels trust, he blossoms into a friendly and playful young pup, so don’t be surprised if in the first minute of meeting he isn’t his funny and playful self. That will come out shortly. Carlisle has lived with other dogs and does great in playgroups, so with the right introductions we think he could live in a house hold with a pup already. To ensure compatibility, our behavioral staff will host a doggy meet up at AAC.
If you want to laugh for life with Carlisle, come into AAC today!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
