Kobe had a brief adoption where we got a lot of awesome notes about him. Unfortunately, the adopter`s unexpected allergies cut their time together short, but we can tell how much they loved Kobe by the behavior information they submitted!
`What are your dog’s best qualities?: Oh man, how long do I have to talk about this dude. He is loyal, smart, affectionate, and most of all just a good boy. He loves car rides and after some energy is out he sits and relaxes and just looks out the window at the world. He really loves the structure of training and responds so well. Everything is a game to him, he loves to win! LOL he loves treats and bones and cat toys LOL anything squeaky he will play with for hours. He loves playing keep away and has never once shown any type of resistance when we took things away from him (out of his mouth). I cannot express enough what an amazing dog he is and how lucky a family will be to have him. He is a one dog type of family and I believe will fill the hearts of his new owners like he did with us. He LOVES to snuggle on the couch. He also knows when to chill and it`s time to wind down. He loves balls and tug a war with his rope.`

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
