Petey is a huge love bug and is always happy. He is an affectionate sweetheart who will rest his head in the crook of your arm and try his best to snuggle with you. He will sit like a gentleman at your feet, wagging his tail and waiting for pets. He is very friendly and a goofy, happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He would make a wonderful family dog and he loves kids.
Petey went for a little staycation and was reported to sleep through the night and hold his pee until it was time to go outside. He knows "no" and "drop it" and hardly ever barked. He pulled on the leash during walks at first but then calmed down. He's smart and a quick learner and he loves everyone he meets. The majority of the time, he just wanted to lounge by his people. He sleeps on his back like a little goofball and snores like a little piggy. He's a lapdog at heart!
He hasn't been formally dog tested, but he has positive body language with the other dogs at the shelter and never instigates anything. He will try and play with the other female dogs outside and he will go to their kennel fronts to say hi. He hasn't been cat tested but also hasn't displayed any prey drive or aggression towards smaller animals or critters.
Petey came into the shelter in October with a mass on his leg. The vet discovered it was a Mast Cell Tumor, the most common skin tumor in dogs. It was removed and he's much happier and healthier! A small bump appeared on his ear, so the vet suspects it may have returned. Surgery is a quick and cheap remedy for this, so his adoption fee is waived.
