Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Per Buddy's foster mom: 'How is sweet old Buddy still here? I think he just doesn't fit any of the normal boxes. He's a little too spirited for people who are looking for a docile, elderly dog and a little too old for a lot of other people. But Buddy has so much to offer. He's friendly with all people and loves kids. He's great with other dogs, he likes to play, and can accept when they don't want to. He loves soft blankets and knows how to use a pillow properly. He enjoys a short walk but doesn't need much exercise. He is potty and crate trained and nondestructive in the house. He's been an absolute joy to foster and has been one of our easiest dogs.'
Buddy is 10 years old and weighs 77 pounds. Buddy's ideal home is one without small dogs or cats.
Location: Foster home
Buddy's adoption fee is $150. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting Buddy, please call the shelter to make an appointment or complete an online adoption application on our website. helpingstrays.org

We welcome you to stop by our facility located at 4221 Hanover Road in Columbia, IL.
We promote the humane care of all abandoned and stray animals in our community. We are a no-kill shelter. All of our pets leave the shelter for their forever homes micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, and altered.
Founded in 2002, Helping Strays is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported entirely by donations.
Our lucky animals receive appropriate medical care, are featured on the Helping Strays website "adoption list" and are taken to several adoption events every month in an attempt to find permanent, loving homes.
