My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Remmy! I am a cat on the go, all the time! Because I am such an active and playful cat I have to make sure that any adopter understands that I will need to play - more than the average kitty!
I'll be your little supervisor! When we are not playing, I would love to sit next to you and supervise your computer work or tv show. When you are cooking, I'll come rub on your legs and supervise to make sure you are not dropping food. When you are not home, I'll happily supervise the critters outside the window!
I enjoy soft chin and cheek scratches, and might bless you with a lap sit, but I work hard on my luxurious coat and prefer you not mess it up with lots of petting! I will do best in a cat savvy home where they can listen to my cues when I need some extra space to relax. I love to play, but I can be sensitive when it gets to be too much, so I may do best in a home without young children. Other cats can cause me stress, so I'd also like to be the only cat in your home.

Remmy is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734) 662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!

"Hi my name is Remmy. I'm 6 years old and I like rubbing on legs. I'd like my own space. I don't like being pet too much. I'm looking for a home without kids and I would LOVE lots of litter boxes. I'm a calm sort of girl and I'm looking forward to
adoption." - written by a 2nd grader at Lakewood Elementary

Additional adoption info

Thank you for considering adopting and saving a life! Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge you need to adopt while making the process a positive experience, so here are some things to know:

+ You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt at HSHV. We welcome all--from any county or state!

+ Prior to visiting an animal, you must complete an application. You can do this at the shelter, or save time by bringing a completed one with you by downloading it from our website at www.hshv.org/howtoadopt.

+ Some animals have special adoption requirements.

+ If you have a dog and wish to adopt another, we may require a dog-to-dog interaction.

+ Adoptions are first-come, first served and holds are limited to one 24-hour hold per family.

+ Please allow at least an hour if you plan on adopting. Bring your driver's license or other government-issued ID with proof of address, a copy of your lease (if it applies) and vaccination records for current pets.

+ Applications are accepted up until 15 minutes prior to closing.

+ Most adoptions are same-day, you'll take home your new friend!

When our animals go home, they've received an initial health check and have been:
+ Spayed/Neutered
+ Microchipped
+ Current on vaccinations (as appropriate to their age)
+ Dewormed
+ Feline Leukemia tested (kittens and cats)
+ Heartworm tested (adult dogs)
+ Temperament tested (adult dogs)

Every adoption from HSHV also comes with:
+ 30 day trial of pet illness & accident insurance
+ A discounted vet exam at the HSHV veterinary clinic
+ Access to our behavior helpline, free to adopters
