This gorgeous guy is named Hugo - he’s looking for his forever home. He was originally found as a stray and trapped by HARRT, extremely malnourished and sick - though this was several years ago and he is now healthy as can be. Hugo was adopted, but recently made his way back to rescue when the owner’s living situation changed in a way where we unfortunately do believe they had no other options. Thankfully, Hugo’s original fosters were able to take him back in and he settled into their routine again in no time.
Hugo is high energy and needs plenty of exercise to be on his best doggy behavior. He crates easily and responds to friendly redirection like “here” or “over there”. Once Hugo gets to know you, he is cuddly and loving- he’d enjoy a belly rub at that time! He also seems to love the ladies! He takes kindly to women but is cautious of strange men. When it comes to other dogs, Hugo prefers to be more of an alpha and would do best with a dog who has a similar play style.
Hugo’s ideal home would be familiar with resource guarding between dogs, as Hugo has struggled with sharing his food, toys and space since returning to rescue. He has been easily re-directed in all instances, but we do recommend feeding separately. He could do well in a quiet home or with active adults and older kids who understand boundaries. He lived with a female husky in his last home and did great with her, though he would also be just fine as an only dog too. Hugo does have a prey drive so he absolutely cannot live with cats.
Hugo has a lot of love to give and we are hoping his happy ending is right around the corner. He may be aloof at first but with patience, he will come around to being your best friend! Please apply if you’d like to meet our special boy Hugo!

Additional adoption info
We ensure that our huskies only go to families on a property with a 6ft secure fence, and remain the guardian of the animal for life - if there is ever need for a family to rehome their husky again due to health or any other major concern, we are always willing to take the dog back and find them a new home.

We do not have a physical shelter location just yet, and operate solely out of foster homes. We are planning to begin participating in adoption events in the near future - these will be listed on our website once available!
