Zuni, commonly called "NiNi", is a very pretty girl who is very shy. She was
among a group of Terriers that were rescued from a hoarder in New Mexico. Zuni lived in a house with over 80 other dogs, and she has some old bite scars on her face - no doubt from the fights that surely occurred in that setting. The first 3-4 days Zuni could not be approached without running; to catch her for bed required cornering her. When picked up she would clamp in place, her paws rigid on her foster mom's shoulders. Zuni gradually became more comfortable being handled, and will climb up on her fostermom's lap to be held. She also likes to be petted, but she remains very jumpy and will flinch at loud noises or sudden moves. Zuni is lean, like an Italian Greyhound, but she has a good appetite. She is 2 years old, about 15 pounds, and around 14 inches tall. Zuni gets along well with all the dogs; she is submissive and avoids confrontation. She is easily intimidated however, so would be not do well with an overly dominant companion dog. Zuni has not been tested on cats but it is unlikely she would be aggressive toward them, given her very quiet personality. Young children
are not recommended due to Zuni's timidness. You can find Zuni's photo album
