My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joey is a well loved Bengal/Bengal Mix that was adopted 2 years ago from a neighborhood posting. A family member has recently returned home, is highly allergic to cats and it has become a heartfelt necessity to re-home him. He is currently isolated in the sun room, which is not an ideal situation for him. He loves to be indoors as a constant companion with his people.

His owner says Joey is very easy going, allows nail trims without a fuss and is a great companion cat that loves to cuddle and give hugs .… even to the dog!

Joey can be vocal when he wants something, like his food. Health-wise, this gorgeous 8 year old boy, has been known to have a sensitive stomach and can be selective about his food. He's good with his litter box. He is currently on a limited ingredient dry food diet, but prefers wet food (tuna) -which sometimes causes loose stools. His owner thinks perhaps a balanced raw diet might be beneficial for Joey, but has not tried that for him.

He has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism which is currently managed with an Rx Vet prescribed 1/2 tablet morning and night. His most recent Vet check was in October 2023 and he is doing well. Joey prefers -a cream form of his medication administered topically. He will take the pill though. The tablet prescription is about $20 per month and topical cream is $35 per month.

Joey has the beautiful spotted coat patterning of a Bengal, soft as velvet, smooth as silk texture and sheen, gorgeous soft green eyes, facial expression and body type - all indicative of the Bengal breed. Joey appears to possibly be a purebred Bengal. We do not have confirmation of his breeding so we are presenting him as a Bengal Mix. His lower adoption fee of $175 reflects this decision.

Joey loves, loves, loves to be with his people. He'd be great in a home with adults, preferably retirees or remote worker. We also know he would be good with a cat friendly dog. There are no other cats in his current home, and he is not aggressive toward other cats that come around his home. We aren't sure how he would be toward another inside cat. Perhaps, with a proper introduction to another cat friendly kitty he would like having a playmate.

Joey happily comes running when you call his name. His preference would be indoors only and on your lap, because Joey is a love bug lap cat !

Joey is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, eats wet and dry food, and is litterbox perfect.

He currently lives with his owner in Roseville.

Purebreds Plus cat Rescue (purebredsplus.org), serving Northern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, Oregon, and Northern Nevada, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of purebred cats, kittens and other exceptional felines. We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit rescue group. Most of our beautiful felines come from Northern California Animal Shelters. One of our goals is to keep purebred cats from ever ending up in a shelter. We are happy to help you if you need to rehome your purebred cat. Often, we can offer advice if your cat is having behavioral problems, and you may end up keeping the cat. We do NOT ship cats. We will place cats out of area but you must arrange to come and meet your new friend in person.
