My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Samuel, an 8-year-old with a heart of gold, has a story that tugs at the heartstrings. Found wandering as a stray, this sweet older gentleman has seen a lot in his lifetime, including losing sight in one eye. Despite his challenges, Samuel's spirit remains unbroken, but he's in need of a loving home where he can comfortably live out his senior years. Imagine the warmth and joy he would bring into your life, offering unconditional love and gratitude for your kindness. Samuel isn't just looking for a place to stay; he's searching for a family to give all his love to. Welcoming him into your home means giving this deserving soul a second chance at happiness, where his golden years can truly shine.

This sweet older gentleman was brought to us as a stray. If not reclaimed, he may be available after Jan 9th. Positive ID and proof of current rabies required for reclaim.

More about this shelter

Concern over a large, and ever increasing, population of homeless dogs and cats, instigated the opening of the Monroe County Animal Shelter.
A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the shelter by providing volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
