My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Life is nothing but sweet with Susy!

Hi there! My name is Susy. I’m the sweetest girl who matches your energy and goes with the flow. Whether it’s couch cuddles or a beach adventure, I’ll be right there by your side! I’m a 3.5 -year-old, 38-pound lab mix. I’m spayed and in good shape, but this wasn’t always the case. When I was rescued from TJ, I had TVT. I am now a survivor and absolutely thriving!

I manage my lingering health issues with Telmisartan for high blood pressure (~$45.00 for 3 months supply). I am eating Royal Canin wet food for GI support (~$112.00 per case). I’m a playful, happy-go-lucky gal and can’t wait to share my positive vibes with you.

I’m a super-friendly girl who loves both four-legged and human pals. I get along well with other pooches and only bark if someone barks at me first. I’m great with kids and love getting attention from my people. I haven’t met any cats, so I’m not sure about them. When I’m not out on an adventure with you, you can find me snuggled up for a snooze or keeping myself entertained with a toy. I’m the best of both worlds!

Not to brag, but I’m a pretty smart cookie. I am quick to pick up on commands and I’m a good listener. Treats always help… I’m a big fan of my food! I am house/bathroom trained and do well on the leash. I don’t get any separation anxiety, although I’d much prefer your company!

With my warm, loving pawsonality, it’s hard not to fall in love with me. Despite my previous health condition, I’m a very active girl and would love either a yard or a family who enjoys daily exercise. I’d do well in a variety of furever homes and would prefer one with either furry friends or humans who are around for most of the day. I think I’d make a wonderful family pooch! Once you get to know me, you’re sure to fall head over heels. So what do you say? Let’s meet for a beach date today!

My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
