My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cooper is a handsome 9-1/2 year old male Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler-Australian Shepherd mix who was surrendered by his owner on May 19, 2023.

Cooper has a black-and-gray short smooth coat, a long tail, and the sweetest face with baby blue eyes, beige/gray eyebrows, gray shading on his muzzle, and short floppy ears. Cooper has the most adorable facial expressions.

Cooper originally came to HSOV on January 3, 2023 after he was surrendered by his owner to the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden and the HSOV Humane Officer .. So he has technically been an HSOV dog for one year.

Cooper was neutered on February 14, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Cooper was adopted from HSOV in March 2023 but was returned on May 19th because of an unfortunate incident when Cooper was apparently startled by someone who was straightening up his blankets and reacted inappropriately (and made contact with that individual with his teeth). In compliance with our policy/procedures, Cooper was assessed and quarantined for the 10-day period with no further incidents.

Cooper participated in our 2023 mini-Halloween photo sessions on October 20th. Cooper rocked a 'Fred Flintstone' caveman costume complete with the iconic oversized blue tie (which matched his blue eyes), and he played the part extremely well. We were a little disappointed that Cooper didn't give us Fred's trademark 'Yabba Dabba Doe" catch phrase during his photo session, but his physical appearance was awesome.

This sweet gentleman has most recently been assisting our shelter staff in the front office and making his temporary home there while he waits for someone special to fall in love with him. We admit that Cooper tends to sleep on the job quite frequently, and he has a super-sized plush bed where he is often seen snoozing away .. until he hears the office door being opened and ‘perks up’ for attention and will follow you around like an overgrown puppy.

Cooper is now a 10-year old 'senior citizen' these days, so we’ve chosen to include his ‘Silver Singles Dating Profile’ with his photo collage in hopes that he will find his perfect soulmate in the New Year.

Copper currently weighs 95 lbs, so there is a lot of him to love.
