Kumquat, 3, wins best eyes, with her breathtaking icy blues that kind of break our hearts a little. Her eyes say, "How did I get here? Ah, babe.
This sweet girl's life has probably felt kind of topsy-turvy, mixed up, discombobulated, whatever you want to call it, lately.
Kumquat, like too many pets now in our care, was left behind at our gate by her person. This happens hundreds of times a year, no exaggeration. We don't know the back stories, but we do know that Kumquat and the others find themselves left behind because their people have problems, not because they have done anything wrong.
We tell you all this because Kumquat needs someone good to the bone to step up for her. She needs TLC and confidence building and love. She needs the kind of person who doesn't leave friends (dog friends, human friends, any friends) behind.
Right now, Kumquat is tentative around new people, and needs some confidence building. So, if you can go slowly, and be gentle with her, that would be fantastic.
Kumquat has had only limited introductions to other dogs, but they seemed to make her nervous, too. So we are hoping to get to know her a little better as she settles in. Right now we're thinking she'd feel most comfortable in an adult home as an only dog.
We have an amazing shelter trainer who can talk with you about Kumquat and how to build a connection with her and help her thrive. Just put in an application and we'll get you set up to come out and meet this blue-eyed babe.
