My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

TUXEDO hails from Poplar Hill and came down south in search of his forever family. He’s neutered, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed healthy by his vet and ready to start his new life. This handsome, gentle boy will be a great addition to just about any family as he has such an easy going nature. He loves to cuddle with you on the couch and he loves being told what a good boy he is.
TUXEDO is housetrained and will let you know when he has to have a bathroom break. He’s crate trained and will sleep quietly in it all night. He’s a very social boy and gets on well with other dogs and he’s in a foster home with with another male Husky with no issues between them at all. His foster is working on his leash skills with him but we would definitely recommend professional training for him so he knows what’s expected of him on his walks. He’s never met a cat so we don’t recommend a home with one. He does have children in his foster home aged 8 and up and he’s great with them so as long as they’re dog savvy, gentle and respectful to dogs.
TUXEDO is an active boy so his ideal family should be an active one too. They should also enjoy the outdoors, walks and hiking in the woods. He travels well in a vehicle and is always willing to go on adventures too. He does require a fenced yard as he loves to run around and play outside. He’s just learning a few commands like “sit” and “stay” which he will always do for treats and his meals. He’s is very food motivated and is currently using a slow feeder to help him slow down when eating at meal times.
TUXEDO was recently adopted but was returned to the rescue through no fault of his own. The details of his return will be discussed in the phone interview after an application has been submitted.

If TUXEDO sounds like the boy for you and your family then please put in an application to meet him.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
