My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

BARISTA hails from Cat Lake in Northern Canada. She cane down down south with 5 of her puppies in search of finding a family to call her very own. Her puppies have mostly gone to their new homes but she is still patiently waiting for her turn to find one. She’s had her vaccines including rabies, microchipped and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She has not been spayed yet but that’s due to the puppies being recently weaned off her. However, when the time comes for her spay it is included in her adoption fee. Her breeds are just an educated guess based on what she looks like as we have no knowledge of her parents. This sweet, gentle girl will be a great addition to just about any home and she wants nothing more than to be with her very own family.
BARISTA is crate trained and sleeps soundly in it throughout the night. She is housetrained and has never had an accident in the house. She does pretty well on a leash and loves to go on walks on the trails and in her neighbourhood. She’s very friendly with all the dogs she’s met so would suit a home with a fur sibling for her or equally, she could be an only child.
She loves to play fetch with a rubber balls and generally just give it a good chase around the back yard. This is a great way for her to burn off some energy too. She does require a fenced in yard to keep her safe and so those balls don’t run away on her. She would love a family who enjoys walking, going on the hiking trails and loves the outdoors as much as she does. She wants them to know that she’d always be up for an adventure or two as well. She had a long drive from Thunder Bay to Barrie with no travel sickness so she should do well when travelling in any vehicle.

BARISTA hasn’t had a lot of exposure to young children so we are recommending they should be aged 10 and up. She should NOT be in a home with a cat as she has a very high prey drive. Obedience training should be on her list of  “things to do” as she would really benefit from it.
If BARISTA sounds like the girl for you then please put in an application to meet her.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
