My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Hemlock, but you can call me Hemi. I joined the Pit Crew in November after being dumped inside a taped up cardboard box at the shelter doors. One of my siblings even had heat stroke from it being so hot. We were so sick, and being only 3 weeks old, we almost didn’t make it.

It’s been a few months and I am doing great! I am a friendly, outgoing even tempered puppy. Now that I’ve had my vaccines, My foster parents have begun socializing me to new sights, sounds and people, and I am doing well. My adoptive family will need to continue this so I can grow into a confident boy.

I am still a baby so potty training is a work in progress. I am doing well at keeping my crate clean, but don’t like being in there so I still whine a bit, but do settle once the lights go off. I am living with cats and dogs, and love them all. I have also been meeting kids on my adventures and would love a few of those as well.

My adoptive family needs to have another dog in the home to continue my socialization. A younger dog who can keep up with me is best, because I love to roughhouse and use my speedy feet to tear through the house.

We did a DNA test and I am 100% American Pit Bull Terrier. Please research the breed before making a commitment to me. I will be a funny, energetic adult dog, but will need properly trained and managed throughout my lifetime to insure I’m a friendly, sociable member of society.

ADOPTION FEE: $350 (All MVPC dogs are heartworm-tested and on prevention, completely vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, crate-trained and house-trained)

I AM READY TO GO HOME!! If you are approved to be my new family, a hold fee of $100 is required and will be applied to the full adoption fee of $350 when MVPC comes to visit your house with me!

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees are $250 for adult dogs, and $350 for puppies 5mo and under. Adoption fees may be more or less depending on breed, special needs, etc. This covers all vetting and allows us to take on hard cases.

It all starts with an application.

http://www.miamivalleypitcrew.com

Our dogs are listed until an adopter is approved and a hold fee is received. Please submit an application for approval FIRST. You will receive a "received" auto response with further information. We do not adopt out littermates together. We are a 100% foster-based, volunteer rescue so we are not able to respond to every inquiry about a dog (though we try) and we will respond to a request for an application or if one is submitted through our website. Please allow 72 hours for us to respond, and please check your spam/junk mail folder first, then send us an email if you believe we have not responded! Since we are foster-based, we have no centralized facility to visit. All of our dogs live in private homes as members of their respective foster families.

We require a physical fence for most dogs.

Once approved, we bring the dog to your home for a home visit. If all goes well at the home visit, the adoption is completed at that time.

More about this rescue

Mission

To cultivate an understanding of the American Pit Bull Terrier through positive education and example and change the misinformed minds of society one dog at a time!

Nonprofit Overview

The Miami Valley Pit Crew (MVPC) rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a network of volunteer foster homes dedicated to rescue and rehabilitation of abused, neglected, and misunderstood dogs and puppies. While we are an all breed rescue, we specialize in "bully breeds" and other strong working breeds: Bulldogs, Pit Bulls, Mastiffs, German Shepherds and any mixes of the aforementioned. We pull dogs from the country's overcrowded shelters. We also educate owners and the public on bully breeds and Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). We specialize in dogs, but respect all living creatures and encourage others to do the same by education.

The MVPC evaluates each potential rescue request to determine the dogs re-homing probability. Our goal is to adopt out family dogs and ambassadors of their breed.
