My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Think you and Bernardo might be a match, but you want to do a trial run at home first? You can foster Bernardo-meaning you'll take them home for one week with the intention of adopting them at the end of their stay. If things don't work out, you can always bring them back to us. If you're interested, come see us or contact us at adoptions@sfspca.org to learn more.

Ciao! Meet Bernardo, the Spirited Italian Spinone Mix with a Heart as Big as the Italian Countryside!

At just 1 year old, Bernardo embodies the lively spirit of Italy itself, with his boundless energy and affectionate nature. Despite his large size, he's still just a puppy at heart, eager to explore the world and soak up every moment of life's adventures.

Bernardo's love for his people knows no bounds, and he's always eager to be where the action is, soaking up every bit of love and attention he can get. But as a big guy with a big personality, he's learning the importance of alone time training, striving to find balance between being by your side and enjoying some solo time.

While Bernardo may bark at other dogs, it's simply because he's bursting with excitement and longing to play. Beneath his boisterous exterior lies a gentle giant, eager to make friends and spread joy wherever he goes.

With positive reinforcement training, Bernardo is harnessing all that puppy zest for life and channeling it into super smarts. With each training session, he's proving that big hearts and even bigger dreams can lead to boundless possibilities.

So, if you're ready to welcome a furry friend who's as lively and lovable as the Italian countryside itself, look no further than Bernardo. With his zest for life and unwavering devotion, he's sure to bring a touch of Italian charm and endless joy to your home!

More about this shelter

Founded in 1868, The SF SPCA is a community-supported nonprofit dedicated to saving, protecting and caring for cats and dogs. We do this through immediate care of animals that are homeless, ill or in need of an advocate, but we also work to educate the community, reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies through spaying/neutering, and improve the quality of life for animals and their companions.
