My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bauer!

Bauer is a 3-year-old purebred American Lab. He's the silliest, goofiest loveball! He has tons of energy and loves to play.

In general he's a great dog, but he's eaten a couple of non-food items that were left lying around the house. (Labs are notorious for eating non-food items.)

He lives in a house with small kids and he has plenty of access to gloves, socks and toys left on the floor. He has already had two surgeries to remove a sock, as well as a zip lock bag that contained snacks from the kids. His people feel that it's unfair for him to be in a home with that risk. For this reason we're looking for a tidy home for him without kids.

Bauer does love other dogs and ignores cats.

His ideal home would be with people who are active and like to hike, walk and run. Bauer also loves to cuddle on the couch with his people.

If you think you could be a good home for this sweet dog, please email us at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com and tell us about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.

Additional adoption info

First you must fill out an application which we will review. Then we will do a phone interview, reference check and finally a home visit before a dog is placed in your home. We ONLY adopt to homes where the dog is an indoor dog, part of the family and treated as such. We stress excellent nutrition, proper training and follow up with all our adopters.

We are probably have one of the more thorough and difficult adoption processes... and we love that people want to adopt and don't want to discourage adopters! So please, if you're in a hurry, or not an exceptional furever home - please try other rescues or a SHELTER is a great option too!
