My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our resident girl, Goldie Locks! Aptly named for her beautiful golden fur. Her foster mom loves her soft velvet ears & Goldie enjoys having them rubbed and scratched. Goldie has a natural beauty mark right above her right eyebrow, which gives her a classic look. Goldie will lie her head on your hip while you work or watch a movie. She is a very sweet girl & loves belly rubs. Goldie loves her foster family and has quickly decided she loves the children of the home as well. She is very independent and will let you know when she's ready for pets and play.

Goldie is already settling nicely into a home after being placed in the shelter. Sadly, we do not know Goldies past, but we do know she gave birth right before she arrived. We do not believe she lived in a home before, as she was shy and unsure. After spending time in her foster home, she is starting to bloom and come out of her shell. She's starting to love to run around and get attention from everyone in the home. She loves to run and really enjoys the backyard. She's very smart and is now moving on to her next trick, which is learning how to fetch! She sure does love it! She knows how to sit & lie down and leave it. She's such a gentle treat taker and very treat motivated.

She likes to have her own space in the home, she stays alone sometimes at her foster home and just takes a nice little nap while they are away. Surprisingly though, Goldie knows how to go potty outside and is fully house trained already. We ask that her new family respects her space and gives her room to get comfortable in her new environment.

Right now, Goldie lives with her human foster children (9 & 11) and interacts well with them. She doesn't interact with the resident cats right now but is very interested in them. Goldie also has a fur foster brother who is a large dog of 60lbs. It's taken Goldie Locks a bit to decide they can be friends, but now they run and play and enjoy each other's company in the yard. We think she would be well placed with a low energy or older dog, or the only dog in the home. A Meet n Greet is recommended with any resident dogs.

Goldie girl doesn't mind car rides, and hops right in. Sweet Goldie has access to toys and has been offered many to play with. She's still getting the hang of a home, fetching, and playing. She is still a bit independent and just needs a little more time to decide "how to dog." She would be fantastic in a lower traffic home, so she has time and space to accumulate. She will need continued patience from her new family on her house manners and work on her leash-walking skills. She's been good on a leash in familiar areas so far and will need to continue to work on being comfortable in new areas as well. Goldie would like a yard to play in and would consider a dog sibling of lower energy.

Her foster family loves Goldie and can't wait to see her open up and thrive in her forever home. They say when you look into her eyes she tells you, "I've not been treated right in the past, but I am a good good girl and I just want to be loved.”
