The very first thing that Schnitzel, the gorgeous 4ish year old, 52 lb Schnauzer / Bearded Collie mix wants to make clear is that he's a love!

Schnitzel has been identified by Texas vets as a Standard Schnauzer mixed with a Bearded Collie. We can't swear to this breed mix..all we known for certain is that this very sweet, cuddly and people-loving guy is absolutely irresistible!

From Schnitzel’s foster:
Schnitzel is a sweet boy with a kind soul. He’s so loving and is always doing his best to be the greatest guy he can be. Schnitzel is working on his leash skills and doing better each and every day.

This sweet baby enjoys the simple things in life like lounging in the sunshine, taking long walks, playing games in the yard and loving his people with all his heart. He’s a wonderful dog and is sure to win the hearts of an awesome dog-crazy family.

Everything is new to Schnitzel. He sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. When given the time to acclimate and get over his initial shyness, Schnitzel will be at your side loving you or cuddling close on the couch or bed for belly rubs and hugs.

We have to remember that Schnitzel came from a terrifying high-kill urban shelter. He therefore will require a bit of time and patience to acclimate to his new situation. His gorgeous looks and sweet demeanor immediately caught the attention of shelter personnel and Schnitzel was labeled a very loving and sweet as can be guy that would enhance any dog-loving family. Our rescuers recognized this and reacted with immediacy to save his life. Farfel's was contacted and we were very excited to welcome Schnitzel into our rescue.

We envision Schnitzel with dog-loving and active retirees. This group is known to really enjoy their relationship with their pets and tend to take excellent care of them. A younger family with gentle older kids who desire a very handsome and loving dog as a best friend would also be a great choice for Schnitzel.

Schnitzel would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people. Being a young pup, Schnitzel will require physical exercise (to keep him happy and fulfilled) as well as mental stimulation (he's super-smart!). Schnitzel will be a natural in positive reinforcement / force- free virtual or in-person obedience classes. He will love the challenge because he's so smart and wanting to please. Farfel's feels so strongly about this training opportunity for Schnitzel (and all dogs) that we're unwilling to place him with a family that doesn't choose this positive reinforcement training opportunity..Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area.

Schnitzel is up to date on his vaccines and neutered.
