My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

CONGRATULATIONS, GUS , ON YOUR PENDING ADOPTION !

Update from Gus's foster :  Gus is such a sweet boy, he has been wonderful with our dogs , the cat and even ignores the bird. Gus has settled in so well with his foster family.....his foster Mom says he is so loving and affectionate, but clearly was not treated well before as he flinches if touched suddenly :-(

Gus will be staring his heartworm treatment March 11.

We are a little worried about him as his respiration rate his high but his Vets are aware and will monitor him closely. We will post updates once he has started . Sending our sweet boy positive healing thoughts will be greatly appreciated, we love this gentle giant !

Heartworm is such a deadly disease, please give your dogs his monthly heartworm pill.

Lil Bit , nicknamed " Gus", and his pal Bicaro ( saved by www.MAGSR.org)  nearly lost their lives in a southern shelter, all because they got out and accidentally hurt some chickens and were taken to a shelter. We posted for help on Gus and then found out about Bicaro......and in a joint rescue effort with MAGSR, both were saved !

Gus is a beautiful German Shepherd dog with classic coloring.  He is a perfect example of this noble breed. Friendly and social with other dogs as well as people, Gus will make a great companion and walking buddy.

Gus will need to be treated for heartworm but ASR will pay for his treatment.  During this time, Gus's activity will be restricted, with leash walks replacing running or playing, and 2-3 vet visits over two months will be required.  For more information email adoptions@allshepherdrescue.com

Gus will be traveling to Maryland shortly and we will post updates as he starts his new life !

More about this rescue

We are a group of German Shepherd lovers who help homeless German Shepherds that are in dire straits and need rescue.

We rescue dogs from kill shelters or other situations where the dogs' life is in danger. We fully vet our dogs and our wonderful fosters care for our dogs until their "forever home" is found!

We are a dating service for dogs, helping potential adopters find the perfect match for their families. We will work with you tirelessly until we find the perfect fit for your family!

We make a lifetime commitment to every dog and every adopter and we are there to answer questions and help with the transition to your home.

Why do we do it? We LOVE dogs , especially German Shepherds, and it breaks our hearts that so many adoptable GSD's never make it out of shelters.

We are an all volunteer group and are always looking for new volunteers to help us in our mission to save dogs!

FOSTERS, we need YOU!!!!

We need fosters to provide a safe haven while a dog is waiting for his/her forever home! If you think you cannot foster because you couldn't let your foster dog leave, talk to us!! While many of us have adopted one or more of our fosters ( we call it Failing Fostering 101 !!!) we can tell you how wonderful it is to see your foster become a beloved addition to a new family.............and opens up a space to save another dog on death row!

If you have any questions at all about fostering please give us a shout and we are happy to answer all questions.

If you cannot foster, we always need volunteers to help host events, do fundraising and PR .

And , of course, we always need donations to pay the vets who keep our dogs healthy and the trainers who help us with doggie manners!

Donations are always welcome and very much appreciated!
