Puck came to us from an owner who had purchased two hamsters from a pet store and they ended up having multiple litters. She was the mom and had two litters before her owner listed her and her babies for rehoming online. One of our foster homes saw and we were able to take Puck in to prevent further litters. She is finished with pregnancy watch and luckily did not end up having a third litter. We estimate her to be under a year old as of January 2024, likely around 8 months.
From her foster: "Puck is very curious and likes to investigate new things. But while she is very polite about it and not aggressive she does not want to be touched. She will do warning nips if you try and I haven't pushed it."
This is typical of dwarf hamsters, who tend to do best in homes who are comfortable being hands off if needed. We would not recommend her for handling by children. Teens and adults are suitable. She needs either an experienced home or a patient beginner that is okay with not petting and cuddling her. With more time and effort she may improve and become friendlier, but not necessarily.
We meet for adoptions within 1 hour of Minneapolis or Faribault, MN. Potentially further, please reach out and we can discuss.
