My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET LEXI #5!!!

Lexi is a happy, playful 1 yr old Puppy!  This girl is all bouncy-and-happy go-lucky! As a typical puppy, she's exuberant and full of energy, so she will do best in a high energy home, with/without another playful and friendly dog. An active home where she will get lots of exercise and playtime would be perfect.  She is food motivated, which helps to teach new tricks!

She is already housebroken, kennel trained, and is a great family member, as she LOVES people, and would do great with kids!

Lexi is a good car rider, and would be a great dog to take on outings to home depot and other pet friendly locales. She's a great leash walker and loves to take long leisurely walks when she's able.

She's good with other friendly, good natured dogs her size or smaller who like to play. Unfortunately she will chase cats, so can only be with cats who are not runners that she will ignore.

Lexi has an affectionate side, loves cuddles and desperately wants to be a lap dog!  But she is well-behaved, listens well, and is very intelligent so she learns new things quickly.
She loves her toys, and will do best with strong playthings like Nylabones and Kongs, which do best with "puppy-teeth". She also LOVES to play fetch and would adore having someone to play fetch in the backyard each day. She does do well entertaining herself when the time calls for it, as she can also be a great independent girl on her own.

Note: Lexie is still on medical hold for heartworm treatment, but adoption can be finalized upon completing her treatment. Foster With Intent to Adopt still available at this time.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All potential adopters will be required to complete our Adoption Application, read and sign our Adopting Policies and Procedures, and participate in a home visit by one of our adoption representatives. Our Adoption Application is located on our website: www.underdogaz.com.

We also have a mandatory two-week Foster With Intent to Adopt trial period for all animals in order to be certain the pet is a good fit for your family.

Our standard adoption fee for dogs is $200; puppies are $250.

Non-standard fees do sometimes apply. Puppies younger than six months may have a higher fee. Designer dogs, purebreds, and other toy type breeds may also have higher adoption fees than the standard $200.

We do, however, have discounted fees for dogs that are seniors, a pair of dogs adopted together, or cats. If you are a veteran or an active duty service member, please ask about our partnership with Pets For Patriots.

All Underdog pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped prior to adoption.

We are a 501c3 non profit, your donations save lives and are 100% tax deductible.

More about this rescue

Underdog Rescue of Az is an all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescuing and re-homing of abandoned and/or abused dogs.

We are a foster-based rescue, and do not maintain a physical base of operations. All of our animals are placed with loving, caring safe foster families until they are adopted. We are also an "All Breed" rescue, and do not discriminate based on breed, age, size, etc.

Underdog's mission also includes educating the public on the issue of animal welfare. We strive to promote shelter reform, spay and neuter education and emergency rescue information & assistance.
