My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fostered in Illinois
Fenced yard required

There is a beautiful grace and dignity about an older Collie - a wisdom gifted by a lifetime of experiences.

Chloe is an 11 year-old blue merle smooth Collie, who has been very well loved her whole life, and is somewhat bemused, yet accepting of, her recent change of residence. She seems to understand that her previous owner was facing a serious medical condition, and wanted to be sure Chloe was loved and cared for, which we are honored to do.

Trim and alert, Chloe is in good shape for such a senior girl, and while her hearing isn't the best, she is biddable and open to the routine at her foster home. As with any Dowager Queen, however, Chloe will assert herself with females who question her royalty, or with more energetic younger dogs, but does get along well with easy-going dogs of both sexes. Cats might be avoided, as Chloe will chase them with focused intent. While we don't know how Chloe feels about younger human children, we are hoping for a quieter retirement home for her, and so would prefer children over ten, if any.

A fenced yard is a must, and Chloe is rumored to seek greener pastures if left unattended, so we would ask that she be accompanied when outdoors. She is content to sleep in a crate, and doesn't mind being confined while you are away, although she is trustworthy in the house. A reasonable number of stairs are manageable, and Chloe is happy to jump in & out of a car - she does enjoy outings and watches intently out of the window as you drive.

For all her elegance and regal bearing, Chloe can be extremely affectionate, and will lay her head against you, and lean in for petting, often closing her eyes and sighing with contentment. Chloe deserves a very special home after living a very special life - could you be that home?
