Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Thor ⚡
Apply to adopt Thor
Thor is a handsome, affectionate, and loyal guy with a heart as big as his name. Rescued from a high-kill shelter just in time, Thor beat the odds—and even heartworm disease—and is now healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home!
This cuddle-loving goofball is house-trained, fully vetted, and loves people, car rides, and pup cups. At Castoff Pet Rescue, Thor is known as the “office dog” because of his calm presence, good manners, and love for companionship. He’s also our go-to for dog-testing—he’s that good with friendly, well-mannered dogs.
But Thor’s not just sunshine and kisses—he’s also a dog with some baggage that needs understanding and experience to unpack. Thor is:
Food aggressive – he must be fed with care and in a controlled environment.
Kennel reactive – he can be reactive toward some dogs and some people when kenneled.
Attachment-prone – once he bonds with someone, he’s incredibly loyal, but introductions should be handled with thought and patience.
🛑 Thor requires an experienced dog owner who can manage his behavior, advocate for his boundaries, and commit to ongoing training and structure. He is not a first-time dog and is best suited for a home that understands canine body language, reactivity, and resource guarding.
Thor could potentially live with another calm, well-matched dog after slow introductions. He’s done well with the right friends, both furry and human.
💙 Thor is ready for a fresh start with someone who sees past his rough edges and into his golden heart. If you're experienced, patient, and ready to offer structure and love, Thor just might be your guy.

More about this rescue
The mission of Castoff Pet Rescue is to save and nurture homeless dogs; to match companion animals with loving, life-long homes; to foster responsible pet care; to control overpopulation in our community through spay/neuter programs; and to assist other shelters and rescue groups in any endeavor to benefit the animals. We believe that the same kindness, compassion, and generosity we extend to our two-legged neighbors should be given to our four-legged friends because they are not able to speak for themselves.
